Staying Connected Through Parenthood Course in Winchester
Staying Connected Through Parenthood Course in Winchester
An 8-session relationship course for parents
Because your relationship deserves as much care as your children do.
We spend months preparing for pregnancy, birth and becoming parents, and most of us attend an antenatal course. Yet very few of us are prepared for what happens to our relationship afterwards.
The sleepless nights. The endless mental load. The constant juggling of work, children and home. The feeling that you’ve become teammates—but have lost sight of each other as partners.
If you’ve found yourselves communicating less, arguing more, feeling disconnected or simply wondering where “you” went as a couple, you’re not alone.
The good news is that relationships don’t have to drift apart after children. With the right understanding, practical tools and small, consistent changes, couples can strengthen their relationship through every stage of parenthood.
Join Clinical Psychologist & Couples Therapist Dr Katherine Mollart for this welcoming 9-session course designed to help couples build stronger, happier and more resilient relationships.
Drawing on evidence-based approaches including:
-
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples
-
Schema Therapy for couples
-
Behavioural Couples Therapy (BCT)
Each workshop combines psychological insights with practical strategies that you can begin using straight away.
This is not group therapy and there’s no expectation to share personal experiences. Instead, you’ll learn alongside other parents in a relaxed and supportive environment, leaving each session with practical ideas and simple exercises to help you strengthen your relationship at home.
Over nine sessions we’ll cover:
Understand Each Other
1. The Foundations of Connection
Why relationships drift—and how they reconnect.
2. Understanding Your Relationship Patterns
How your past shapes the way you love today.

3. Breaking Negative Communication Cycles

Why invest in your relationship?
Research consistently shows that the quality of the relationship between parents has a significant influence on family wellbeing. While no relationship is perfect, learning how to communicate well, repair after conflict and stay emotionally connected can benefit both partners and create a more secure environment for children.
A strong relationship is one of the greatest gifts you can give your children.
Frequently Asked Questions
We’re really struggling. Is this course right for us?
Absolutely. Many couples join because they feel they’ve drifted apart, are arguing more often, or simply want to reconnect after the challenges of parenthood.
The course is designed to help couples understand one another better, improve communication and strengthen their relationship using practical, evidence-based strategies.
If your relationship is in severe crisis (for example, ongoing infidelity, coercive control, abuse or there is a significant risk of separation), couples therapy may be a more appropriate starting point. If you’re unsure, please get in touch with Katherine and she’ll be happy to advise.
Is the course only for new parents?
No. Whether you’re expecting your first baby, navigating the newborn months, parenting toddlers or juggling the demands of school-aged children, the skills you’ll learn are relevant throughout parenthood.
Will we have to share personal information with the group?
No. This is not group therapy.
There is no expectation to discuss personal relationship difficulties in front of others. The sessions focus on teaching practical relationship skills, with opportunities to complete exercises privately as a couple.
Do we need to arrange childcare?
No. One of the biggest advantages of running the course at Thrive + Wild is that your child can enjoy the soft play while you attend the course in the Mezzanine area.
What if one of us can’t make a session or our child needs one us in the soft play?
Life with children is unpredictable, so we understand that occasionally things happen.
Each session covers a different topic, and you’ll receive a workbook to support your learning. If you miss a session or parts of a session, you’ll still be able to benefit from the course.
Can I attend the course without my partner?
The course is designed for couples to attend together, as you’ll be practising the skills with one another throughout the sessions.
Is this therapy?
No. This is a psychoeducational course rather than therapy. You’ll learn practical, evidence-based strategies drawn from psychological research, with exercises to help you apply them to your own relationship.
We don’t have major problems. Will we still benefit?
Definitely. Many couples attend because they want to invest in their relationship before difficulties become entrenched. Think of it like servicing your car—you don’t wait until it breaks down.
The course is designed to help couples strengthen communication, deepen connection and build habits that support a healthy relationship for years to come.
What should we expect from each session?
Each session includes:
-
Clear teaching from a Clinical Psychologist
-
Practical tools and strategies
-
Couple exercises to complete together
-
A workbook to take away
-
Time to ask questions in a relaxed, supportive environment
How much does the course cost?
The full 9-session course costs £295 per couple, including drinks, soft play access and your course workbook.
