Experience
Dr Sarah Hellegren is a counselling psychologist and is experienced in a range of evidence based interventions such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
She has experience of working with adults and adolescents experiencing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)/complex PTSD, depression, anxiety, OCD as well as different personality disorders, Bipolar and psychosis.
Dr Hellegren has expertise in working with perinatal mental health difficulties, such as parents who have experienced difficulties relating to the experience and demands of being a parent.
In addition to working with individuals she has experience of working with families and couples. She has worked with ethnically and culturally diverse clients and applies an individual-driven treatment that is sensitive to a person’s identity in terms of culture, gender identity and sexual orientation.
Dr Hellegren wrote her doctoral thesis on complex PTSD.
She is fluent in Swedish.
Alongside her work with Mollart CBT Ltd., Dr Hellegren works in a NHS secondary care mental health service where she predominantly works with complex depression and PTSD as well as people with personality disorders.
Qualifications
Dr Hellegren holds a Doctorate in Counselling psychology.
Dr Hellegren is a registered Practitioner Psychologist with The Health Care Professional Council (HCPC), which monitors and regulates the counselling psychologists.
