Dr Celeste Teo

Experience

Dr Teo has worked with adolescent and adult clients in NHS primary care, inpatient, community, and physical health settings, to help them achieve their goals and live meaningful lives. She aims to deliver culturally responsive interventions that best meet the client's needs while making evidence-based therapies accessible.

Over the past 11 years, Dr Teo has worked with various concerns such as depression, anxiety, relationship related issues, psychosis, life transitions, and grief and loss.

Dr Teo's therapeutic approach is integrative and person-centred, drawing on evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy. She has completed Level One of Schema Therapy and Level One of the Systemic Pathway (accredited by The Association for Family Therapy and Systemic Practice). 

 

Dr Teo has experience working with adults with a range of mental health conditions and physical health problems, particularly neurological conditions and chronic respiratory conditions, and working with their carers. 

 

Dr Teo has experience providing CBT and Narrative Therapy to young people with Autism/ADHD comorbid with mood disorders and providing trauma-focused therapy for unaccompanied asylum-seeking minors.

 

Aside from delivering 1-to-1 therapies, Dr Teo has developed psychoeducation resources for patients who have postpartum psychosis and postnatal depression. She has also spearheaded support groups for caregivers who experienced burnout from caring for their loved ones who had psychosis. 

 

In Singapore, Dr Teo worked at the Institute of Mental Health for 4 years providing psychological support for adults who had enduring mental health difficulties (bipolar disorder, psychosis) and substance misuse. She was awarded Public Sector Transformation Award in 2018 for excellence in service delivery and dedication to serving the community. 

 

Having lived in Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, and the U.K, Dr Teo can relate to expatriates coming to live and work in the U.K, including the stress one can experience at work as well at home due to a culture change. She is fluent in English, Mandarin, Bahasa Malaysia, and currently learning Arabic.

 

Outside of work, Dr Teo enjoys hiking, the outdoors, live theatre (musical, orchestra, ballet), and is a confessed foodie.

Qualifications

Dr Teo holds a doctorate in clinical psychology from UCL.

Dr Teo is a registered Practitioner Psychologist with The Health Care Professional Council (HCPC), which monitors and regulates the practice of Clinical Psychologists.
