Areas of Special Interest

Couples Therapy

Jess has a particular interest in working with couples.

When a relationship is experiencing conflict, disconnection, or crisis it can be difficult to know where to start. Her couples work offers a structured, focussed and practical approach helping couples understand the patterns that are keeping them stuck and, importantly identify what they can do differently.

Sessions focus on developing practical strategies and exercises to use between appointments allowing couples to put the work into practice in their everyday lives. This means therapy isn’t something that just happens with in the session - there are clear manageable steps to take away that ca begin to create positive change in the relationship.

Schema Therapy

Jess works with individuals as well as couples using Schema Therapy.

Schema Therapy can be particularly helpful when someone finds themselves repeatedly experiencing the same difficulties, despite understanding logically that they would like things to be different. Therapy can help clients recognise long-standing emotional and relationship patterns, understand where they may have developed and learn new ways of responding to themselves and others. Jess supports clients to develop a greater understanding of their emotional needs and the patterns that may be contributing to difficulties in their relationships, wellbeing or sense of self.

Physical Health & Wellbeing

Jess also has a particular interest in the relationship between physical and psychological wellbeing, including health and nutrition. She has a specific interest in the psychological impact of living with Type 1 Diabetes and understands that managing a long-term health condition can affect many areas of life and emotional wellbeing.

Experience & Qualifications

Jess is an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and works in accordance with its professional and ethical standards.
