Experience
Dr Sophie Ann Clifton is a Clinical Psychologist. She has more than 15 years’ academic and clinical experience in the field of psychology.
Dr Clifton has experience working with children in NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and with adults delivering psychological interventions rooted in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to a broad range of individuals.

Dr Clifton has also worked alongside physical healthcare teams, treating individuals with weight management difficulties and long-term health conditions, such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
Outside of psychology, Sophie is a practising Buddhist and has worked as a Buddhist Prison Chaplain, leading study groups and meditation sessions with prisoners. This side of her life influences her clinical practice; she has a real passion for mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT).
In her spare time, Sophie likes to meditate, keep fit, spend time with friends and bake them vegan delights.
Qualifications
Dr Clifton achieved a 1st class honours Psychology BSc and then a Forensic Psychology MSc.
Dr Clifton holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.

Dr Clifton is a registered Practitioner Psychologist with The Health Care Professional Council (HCPC), which monitors and regulates the practice of Clinical Psychologists.
